ZMQ designed and developed for FHI360 a digital library for NACO’s National HIV/AIDS Communication Resourced and Support Centre (NHCRSC). The specific elements of the essential component of the solution/ service include digitalization of IEC materials not available in editable soft copies; developing an interactive digital library including the creative design, a database to hold content, a content management system (CMS) to manage and update the library, initial posting to and testing of the library, its successful launching and technical maintenance for one year from the date of launch. The other components were collection/ collation of IEC materials from NACO/SACS/Partners; classification and cataloguing of the IEC material. Some of the components of Digital Library System are:
- Digital library design and development, including migrating the digital library with relevant databases onto the designated server.
- Collection, collation, classification and cataloguing of IEC material.
- Digitalization of IEC material (Print/ AV materials etc.) – only those not available in editable soft copies
The proposed digital library is a critical sub-component of NHCRSC by serving as a rich media e-resource center, a communication professionals’ e-resource pool, and an evidence-based research e-repository. The resources housed in NHCRSC serve as a portal of tested, communication management tools to plan integrated campaigns and a communication capacity building hub for all IEC staff at national and state levels.
