In the towns and villages of any developing country, one will hardly find any clinic, doctor or nurse working in the field of mental health. It is absolutely overlooked. If one gets a chance to talk to anyone affected by a mental illness in those regions, one will only get to hear stories of discrimination and shame. National Rural Health Mission created cadres of frontline health workers, ASHAs, doing wonders in the low-resource communities related to MCH, RH, TB etc; but there are no frontline health worker trained for mental health diseases.

There is an urgent need to address this illness by providing low cost healthcare facilities for screening, diagnosis and training. ZMQ is establishing a multipurpose m-Health Platform to transform the lives of children with Developmental Disabilities (DD) in low and middle income countries. The key objective of the platform is to change the lives of children with DD; specifically with Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Intellectual Disability. The system enables computerized (mobile based) screening tool for identification of children with NDD (Neuro-developmentalĀ Disabilities) and to generate probable diagnoses for the child, create a tool for assessment of impairments to generate a summary of unmet needs and create a system for referral, case monitoring and tracking outcomes.
